Walking into age two like… 😎 Sometimes I just can’t believe she’s mine. That she loves me and wants to give me long, snuggly hugs and read books together. I don’t want to forget the way she smiles when she’s an inch away from my face, or her passion for pink hearts, or the way she looks when I ask her a question and she’s contemplating her answer. Or, of course, her determination to be the next @simonebiles, turning her kitchen into a balance beam and spinning all over the couch. She’s curious and chatty and silly, and even a fellow Libra. I love her, I love her, I love her! 💙

I didn’t think there was anyone who loved saltwater and sand as much as me, but she’s proven otherwise. 🌊 I wish I could take her joy with me when we leave and carry it around for the rest of my life.

waking up early and reading.
taking a nap early after reading.
doughnuts from the usual place.
reaching the beach during low tide.
catching and playing with crabs.
staying late at the beach to read more.
lingering in the outdoor shower.
grilling with high school and college friends.
grabbing post-dinner ice cream.
finishing my book.
everything I needed it to be. 🤍

This morning I woke up feeling so homesick for Mar

This morning I woke up feeling so homesick for Martha’s Vineyard that I had tears in my eyes and a knot in my stomach. 55 Trinity Park was my second home growing up, and even though I haven’t stayed there in almost 10 years, it still kinda feels that way. I’ve been back on the island in different capacities since, but nothing has ever beat sitting on that porch, reading in rain or listening to musicians play in the Tabernacle across the street after a full day at Long Point. I’m lucky to miss this island, to have had the experiences that I have.

My mom and I love it so much that we share a subscription to @vineyardgazette. And while that’s certainly not the same as being there in person, I think it’s been a good reminder to really pay attention to the present moment—to take it all in so that when that moment becomes a memory, we can look back with so much gratitude. 💙
